Sketch Dailies: Sailor Moon
Above is a sketch for today's @sketch_dailies theme, Sailor Moon. I haven't done a topic in a while, so Serena is as good a theme as any to jump back in.
One of my favorite mediums to work with is ink. You're really forced to think about what you're doing, as there's no magic eraser to come to the aid. I find myself planning more, while also letting happy accidents happen. It's a unique, fun combo. I also love the line texture pens allow.
Oh, and ballpoint pens are hella cheap. That helps.
Below is from this past weekend, when I babysat and watched a whole lot of Sofia The First… I'll let you guess who my favorite character is.

Sailor Uranus
Okay, I think I'm just about caught up on collabs! This was for a Sailor Moon collab celebrating the show's anniversary and return this summer. There were a ton of awesome artists that signed up, and all the character slots were filled. I'm beyond thrilled to have been a part of it, and can't wait to see all the other finished characters!
Below are some sketches I did before settling on the final pose. Uranus is simply one of the most epic and awesome of the scouts, I just adore her.

SkADaMo.... Oops!
I've completely fallen off the SkADaMo bandwagon, sadly. The month has blown by as I try to recover from my trip to California in regards to work. Not to mention the upcoming holidays! I'm eagerly counting down until Christmas now that Thanksgiving is basically here. Gotta love this time of year!
So here's a quick doodle of Rini, just because.

Jupiter
Trying to work on some more dynamic poses, and Lita came to mine almost immediately. I was always a huge Amy fan, but in recent years I've really come to not have a favorite scout; they're all so different and complex and flat out awesome.
Lita was great because she was so homely - loved cooking/baking - but was also the one who had the most martial arts chops. (Also: lightning punches. Nothing beats that.)

Day Twenty-One
Another Sailor Scout.
It's a guilty pleasure, I can't help it.
I'm also a sucker for analogous color schemes. So, there's that.
