Sketch Dailies: Ash Ketchum

Yesterday's theme for #Sketch_Dailies was Ash, and so here's a quick and dirty doodle. I watched these two religiously as a kid, so I couldn't pass this up!

Here's to the boy who is perpetually stuck at age 10, traveling the world to be The Very Best™.

Pokemon Doodles

Pokemon Go! was announced last week, and I can't help but think how excited I would have been had it been around in the 90s. Because gameboy games and card games were simply never enough.

I myself nearly always chose Squirtle as my starter, and Charizard was so popular because of the merchandise opportunities, so I always felt bad for Bulbasaur. No respect for this cute little guy!

Noibat

This was something I drew up for my friend Toby, who recently did a daily Pokemon challenge - drawing each of the 150 originals over as many days. He did a fabulous job, so be sure to check out his work.

Twitterdex Entry

Chespin (shock, surprise, awe) for the Twitterdex. I always wanted to do this kind of thing on my own, where you draw each and every Pokemon. But I tried doing it back when there were 151 Pokemon and always fell short. Now there's a ton more, so the failure would only be magnified.

The funny thing is I beat X/Y, and I still don't know half these guys. Since when are there over 700 kinds! Insane.

Sharing the Chespin Love

I recently did an art trade with the awesome Aron Shay. We are both rather obsessed with Pokemon lately, so we drew each other our favorite starter.

Because the only thing better than one Chespin is two. Especially if one is a shiny!

PokéPals

What even is Sycamore's hair, seriously.

Nevertheless I'm constantly doodling him in adorable poses with adorable Pokemon because who doesn't love nerdy guys with cute critters. I certainly do, apparently.

(Someone stop me this train is running away.)

Gen VI Meets Gen I

It's my brother's birthday today, and lately he's super into Pokemon. He's been hanging up all kinds of stuff he's printed offline - anything from Pokedex entries to cute little Axews to type charts -  and so I figured I'd make him a fun little poster to hang up.

I used an ink brush from Shaun Bryant's recent set, and Cale Atkinson's holiday brush set to color.  I highly recommend both!

EDIT:

I made a WIP gif, and there are quick snapshots of the sketch and lineart on my Instagram as well. Enjoy!

Grass Type

Sycamore and a Chespin, just because.

I don't know which is cuter!

I may do an illo of the professor with each of the starters... We shall see!

SkADaMo Day 5

One day I'll stop talking about Pokemon, but today is not that day. Mostly because I just bought the cutest pink dress in Laverre City!

SkADaMo Day 4

A before and after of sorts with both cleaned up lines and the crude sketch. It was a real challenge trying to do a pose for someone with such stubby arms and legs, to be honest.

I've got such a soft spot for my level 50 Pancham, who is totally owning all opposing Pokemon. My brother wants me to let her evolve and I just can't do it. SHE IS TOO CUTE.

SkADaMo Day 2

Sketch for Day 2!

I bought Pokemon X last week, and have been playing it any chance I get. My Chespin is now at level 42, and I've refused to let him evolve because he's so adorable.

I'm a terrible Pokemon Trainer, I know.

Day Eleven

90's kids know where it's at! Though admittedly I'm a bit biased, but we had it all. Tamagotchi, Pokemon, Digimon, Spice Girls, Backstreet Boys, tie-dye shirts, N64... the list goes on.

Speaking of Pokemon. I always chose Squirtle.

1. because he's awesome, and 2. because he could easily beat Brock. I tried playing once with Charmander and didn't have the patience to level up in order to beat all the rock Pokemon Brock had.

And that is today's nostalgic yet useless information!
