Miscellaneous Sketches

Random gestures, longish poses based on online stock photos, and everyone's favorite flirtatious waitress.

Well, my favorite anyway.

Debbra Styles

Varying styles using form/shape, as seen in David Colman's DVD. Only took a little over an hour to do this, but I really had fun with it. I do wish I would have gone a little crazier on the graphic style, as that's not my forte at all... Next time!

Lineart

Worked on this a bit in between animating in Photoshop/After Effects yesterday, and then just went all out and finished it tonight. (Referenced used: my 3D diner)

(I intentionally left out any and all text, only because that's a beast in and of itself... a beast I'm going to face another day.)

New Look

I got a haircut this past weekend- got about 10 inches taken off. I also bought this ridiculously large (and awesome) floppy beach hat. (Thinking that over, I suppose it sounds as though I'm going through a life-crisis or something!) I actually am donating my hair to Pantene, and my will power wasn't enough to resist such an awesome hat.

Summer break has been relaxing and fun thus far; here are some Debbra studies I did recently:

What'll you have?

Drew this when I was in my Acting for Animation class (I miss it terribly!), and just got around to coloring it this weekend.

So. Many. Spots!

Debbra Walk

This was a quick test I did last night, seeing how her neck would stretch/fall on each position. In my free time that I don't have, I so want to animate this.

Materials & Lighting Final

My 3d diner, finally finished! Only 11 weeks in the making: two weeks modeling Debbra, four weeks modeling the diner, three weeks of UVs/texturing, and a week to light/render, leaving week eleven for the stress to melt away. (Rather, attempt to fix render issues, most to no avail.)
Close up of Debbra's front.

Phew! Bring on winter break.

Debbra Glory Shot

Above is a concept for my materials and lighting class; this is one of the original drawings from last year. Wowzers!

Debbra Turnaround

My turnaround assignment for Drawing for Animation. 16 drawings, played on twos.

I recently inked it, so it'll read better when scanned. I also fixed the cigarette wobble, because it drove me craaaaaazy.

I'm really pleased with how this turned out! It's really cool to see her "in 3D."

Party Animal

I haven't drawn Debbra since the spring quarter ended, and was feeling nostalgic. That, and I was attempting to procrastinate on my art history paper. And so, seeing as I'm about to crack open four very large Chinese art history books, Debbra remains uncolored- for now.

Facials and Gestures

These are assignments from Acting for Animation. The first is a facial expression page drawn from a list of given emotions. The second is an emotion study: Debbra opens a letter informing her that she won a million dollars. But upon reading the fine print, she learns she owes that much.

Debbra Poses

This is the layout for my Acting for Animation assignment. Given a list of actions, we had to create gestures unique to our characters.

Oh, and we also had to come up with a "theme" song. Debbra's is Human League's Don't You Want Me. It's like the song was written for her!

Break Time

A sketch from my Acting for Animation class. I'm growing rather fond of her!

What'll You Have?

We went to Olive Garden today for their never-ending-pasta-bowl, and had an awesome server. He was funny, he remembered us from a few weeks ago, and was always trying to keep us smiling. He is one of the best servers in the world, hands down.

So what better reason to draw Debbra, the waitress with attitude?
